SHAWN LECKER-POMAVILLE, CEO NEVADA VOLUNTEERS, APPOINTED NATIONAL POSITION

Shawn Lecker-Pomaville, Chief Executive Officer for Nevada Volunteers, the Governor’s Commission for National & Community Service, was appointed First Vice Chair for the board of the Association of State Service Commissions during the recent National Conference on Volunteering and Service held in Atlanta.

(Reno, NEV – June 9, 2008)  Shawn Lecker-Pomaville, CEO for Nevada Volunteers, has been appointed First vice Chair of the Board of Directors for the Association of State Service Commissions, a national organization dedicated to advancing community service.  Lecker-Pomaville has served on the Association of State Service Commissions (ASC) board for six years and has also served as Chair of the Public Policy committee and the Development and Fundraising committee for the past two years.

Nevada Volunteers is the Governor’s Commission that administers the Nevada AmeriCorps programs.  As CEO of Nevada Volunteers, Lecker-Pomaville says she is able to bring the Nevada focus to this important national association.

“State Commissions administer 75% of the AmeriCorps funds appropriated by Congress.  It’s critical that our association represents a cross section of governor-appointed commissioners nationwide.  ASC builds on the expertise of this peer network to keep volunteering and service strong in our communities.  More information about the programs supported in Nevada can be found on our website at www.NevadaVolunteers.org.”
