Alert: ServiceNation Summit Tonight!

Tune in tonight when presidential candidates will participate in the Presidential Forum on Service from New York City. Live coverage starts at 8 pm EST, and will be broadcast on CNN, C-SPAN, Fox News and MSNBC. It may also be covered on your local PBS station.  A must see event, presidential candidates and thought leaders will discuss many of the service and civic issues that have captured the national spotlight, along with the role of citizenship and service in post-9/11 America.  

The Presidential Forum on Service is the official kickoff to Service Nation Summit 2008, a two-day event designed to bring together more than 600 of the nation’s decision makers to discuss the improtance of national service and community volunteering, and to create and outline strategies to effectively address and solve social challenges. Topics include educational opportunities and advancement for children in low-income areas; environmental priorities and efforts; and what we can do to better manage relief efforts for major natural disasters like Hurricanes Katrina, Gustav and Ike. Speakers will include Mayor Michael Bloomberg, First Lady Laura Bush, Senator Hilary Clinton, Caroline Kennedy, Martin Luther King III, New York City Department of Education Chancellor Joe Klein, Her Majesty Queen Noor of Jordan, and Governor Arnold Schwarznegger.
